I became interested in the power of reflexology when, as a very active 43 year old mum of three, I suddenly experienced a spinal injury. Not only was I in extreme and uncontrollable physical pain due to sciatica, the emotional side of the injury was very difficult to handle as well. As NHS medical intervention and medication was not effective, I tried reflexology for pain relief. I was totally amazed how much, regular reflexology sessions helped me to manage the pain better, and to address the underlying emotional aspects that ultimately led to the symptoms.
A year later, I decided to study more about how reflexology works and trained as a DuoPody Reflexology Practitioner, qualifying in 2012 with Distinction. Since then, I have completed a PCeT, worked with GPs and Consultants in Pain Medicine on a research proposal into the effectiveness of DuoPody Reflexology for chronic pain. Last year, I filmed a module on DuoPody for Cardiff University Medical School’s online MSc in Pain Management.
I have been running a successful reflexology business since I qualified, treating people of all ages, in all stages of life. I practise this wonderful therapy in a peaceful garden lodge at my home in Wenvoe, Nr Culverhouse Cross, Cardiff. It is a dedicated, therapeutic space in which to receive reflexology. I also teach the Agored Cymru Level 5 Diploma in Practitioner Reflexology so you can be assured of my level of practise and professionalism. I specialise in treatments specifically for chronic pain management, as well as targeted, stress reduction half hour sessions (NEPIP). I receive patient referrals from Consultants in Pain Medicine and the 2Wish Charity offering reflexology to parents who have suffered the loss of a child, of any age.
I am not a healer, and I do not diagnose medical conditions. However, I do facilitate the innate healing properties of your own body and mind, and using diagnostic skills suggest where the body is unbalanced. You can regain control, achieve balance, and self-healing through reflexology treatments. If you have any questions, give me a call as I am happy to chat with you and offer a free consultation. It is easy to find me and there is plenty of parking available outside my house. I use organic, aromatherapy reflexology creams and balms from Flying Wild, to further enhance the benefits of the treatment.
I am insured to practise reflexology by Boswell’s Insurance Brokers and have an Enhanced DBS Certificate.
